Best Before: May December 2006

The Daily Texan published an article by a graduating senior a year ago with some inspiring advice for incoming freshmen. Since then I’ve constantly wondered whether or not I’ve made the best use of my college experience. This past year has gone by with the comfort of having another chance “next year”. That next year is almost here and there aren’t going to be any more after it.
I’m making a list of things to do in my senior year so I may never have to regret the missed opportunities.
Attend Austin City Limits (Coldplay will be playing there this year)- Go to every single club and bar on sixth street, just because I can
- Go skydiving in San Marcos
- Get A’s in all my classes in a semester
- Watch a football game at Texas A&M
WatchAttend the Texas-Ohio State football game- Jump into Littlefield Fountain
Attend a UT basketball game- Attend UT baseball and softball games
- Take a road trip to a small, obscure town in Texas
- Take ballroom dancing (had to drop it early in Fall 2003 because of my job timings)
Have my name mentioned in the Daily Texan: Was quoted in an article about UT Webmail- Take part in No Pants Day
- Sleep through all my classes on South Mall on a sunny day (instead of my bed)
- Schlitterbahn!
Additions to the original list:
- Eat out at
3550 new restaurants in Austin (ones that aren’t called McDonald’s, Wendy’s etc.) - Go squirrel-fishing
- Teach a DemTex class on web standards
- Date a girl from Texas Pom
This list was written half-heartedly but it’s all I can remember for now. I will continue to update this list over the next year, adding new things to do and striking out things I’ve completed.
Update on Oct 4, 2005:
I’ve pushed my graduation forward to December 2006, so I have an extra semester to do all these things. Besides, graduating in four years is like leaving the party at 10:00.

Good luck with that list!!! Maybe you could combine No Pants Day and jumping into the Littlefield fountain

Going by my long history as a procrastinator I might end up having to combine all 15 things into a single event

Dear Amiya,
I know it’s a long shot, but do you by any chance remember a guy called Pranesh in Delia? Well, after nearly 7 yeaars since I left that institution, I finally managed to track someone down from there… Currently I’m studying in National Law School of India University in India (wikipedia link: NLSIU). A random google session on the web brought on fond memories of a cricket match we all played, and the subsequent trip to your house… anyhoo, gotta be going.
Cheers.
Pranesh

Hi Pranesh, I totally remember those days. I left DSC eight years ago but didn’t get in touch with anyone from there until late 2002.
