The Ides of March
Tuesday, March 1st, 2005Today and tomorrow are Student Government election days here at UT. Both parties seem to be well matched this year and there are no frivolous tickets this time around. One of last year’s candidates wanted to divert funding from the “useless” College to Liberal Arts to factories producing miniature toilets. Another platform wanted to set up a dozen turtle ponds around campus to increase diversity. The showstealer, however, was a candidate who dressed up as a snowman for the presidential debate.
I had logged in to vote a few minutes ago. Just when I began to feel guilty about voting without knowing much about the candidates other than their platforms, a message popped up to tell me voting was over for the day. I’d missed the 9PM deadline by a few minutes. Maybe that’s a sign telling me to read up about the candidates tonight and make an informed decision tomorrow. Chris has been analyzing the elections all month and came out with his choices today.
In other news I have a big exam & a project due on Thursday. Two more exams next Thursday. I still don’t know what I’m doing for Spring Break. I might just end up staying in Austin for the SXSW festival. The interactive section will feature the entire who’s who from the world of web design; it should be fun.
