No wonder

Google just released its first ever India Zeitgeist. Tsunami was the search query in almost every country in the month of January.

No wonder I’ve been getting so much traffic from people searching for Anara Gupta, who came in sixth:

For those of you who don’t know, she is a model who may or may not be embroiled in a sex tape controversy, depending on who you ask.

MSN Search has launched its own zeitgeist called the “MSN Search Insider”. The interface is impressive but the functionality is very limited. There is no way to look at the actual rankings except for staring at a box that cycles through 10 random searches and their rankings from the top 200. I did notice that Aishwarya Rai was at #3, behind Angelina Jolie and hybrid cars. Perennial favorite Britney Spears was all the way down at #28!

I didn’t know that google published a ‘zeitgeist’. Pretty amusing stuff.

I agree. The results offer a candid look at society. I had no idea so many people were concerned about the tsunami.
There’s another new google feature, a local movie search - I wish we could have used it last summer.

Yea, I just saw the movie search feature today. Pretty awesome how google is constantly diversifying it’s search capabilities.
